The WikiHouse MCMV project was developed as part of the initiatives taken since 2009, following a public call for collaboration between FINEP (Financier of Studies and Projects - Ministry of Science and Technology) and the Ministry of Cities to conduct research in the fields of environmental sanitation and housing. The TPED research group represented Mackenzie Presbyterian University and conducted research on the application of information and communication technologies to produce social housing. The prototype resulting from this research was completed in 2015, utilising the open-source building system WikiHouse and adhering to the housing parameters set by the federal programme Minha Casa Minha Vida (MCMV).
